About

Hello I am Claire

I am a fully qualified Counsellor holding a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and further qualifications in education (PGCE). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This is important to me as I feel they promote the highest standard of practice and professional ethics for their members.

Working with counselling and particularly with the Person-Centred Approach resonates with me. Carl Rogers, the founder of this approach invites us to be who we fully are: “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” [i]
Seeing people growing and becoming who they wish to be makes my job so valuable. I have built up my experience as a counsellor working with several charitable organisations. This has introduced me to a diverse range of clients. Many presented with issues such as depression, anxiety, past abuse, low self-esteem, relationships, health…and much more. My approach is facilitative rather than directive. I offer to truly listen to you without judgement and support you with care. Together, we can work on strategies that enable you to address the root causes of your difficulties.

My office has different forms. One is a counselling room in the town centre of Wigan which is comfortable and convenient. Working face to face, I feel I truly meet you.

I have also embraced working on the telephone and online. It is a valuable tool which connects me to the whole world and opens opportunities to offer counselling from your home at flexible times.

I also really value working outdoors. When I heard about working outside as a counsellor, I knew I would work in this field. Just being outside changes our brain and creates feel good hormones. Walking in nature reconciles me with myself, with the world. Nature is such a great therapist!
